The cost for data recovery depends on how quickly you need it done, and how complicated the data recovery is. As such, we typically quote a cost range depending on the level of service that is needed.

Regardless, we must enter the failed media into our assessment queue so we can determine how the drive has failed. Even if the drive has an audible ‘click’ from it, or sounds like it has a physical failure, that isn’t always the case. There are three levels of service for this. The client must choose one.

General Queue - Service is started within our general queue, currently there is a 7 - 15 business day wait for general service. The cost for this assessment is $50.00 upfront.
Priority Queue - Service is started within 8-16 bus hours (1-2 bus days) usually completed within 2 business days. The cost for this assessment is $150.00 upfront.
Emergency Queue - Service is typically started same day, and is worked on 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This service can take up to 48 hours. The cost for this assessment is $350.00 upfront, and includes drive pickup by a Catalyst data Technician in Edmonton and greater area if needed. (Ie. Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Stony Plain, Etc -- Wait time will vary for all of these sites...)

Software Recovery:

We will pull of the data we can for you right away using our special software only. Your drive will not be opened. You can typically expect to pay between $150 – $550 for this level of recovery depending on file size, and level of complexity. You will be able to review all of the recovered data in a remote session (as long as you have access to another computer with an internet connection and have a phone) so you can ensure that we have all of the data you need before we close your case file.

In-Lab Recovery:

If the hard drive is not readable by software you have the ability to enter the drive into our data laboratory. The cost is an additional $350. Regardless of the queue chosen, we will let you know if we feel the drive is a candidate for in lab recovery. The typical cost for recovery ranges between $1,800.00 – $2,900.00 depending on drive size, data loss complexity, etc. Once the recovery is complete, you will be allowed access to see the data remotely so you can verify data integrity and the contents.

In the event we cannot recover any data, you will be refunded $300.00 of the hardware assessment fee.
